The Last Good War: The Faces and Voices of World War II

A pivotal event in the history of World War II, particularly the U.S. was. I have a grandfather who served in that war, earning two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star was. Countless movies I saw depicting the events of World War II, and I also have a number of books about those years as well as read. It was a different time, and War generation that helped to shape identity. It is a war that many refer to as, "The Last Good War." My grandfather, like many of World War II veterans are passing away each day. The reason for this is that I liked what Thomas Sanders and Veronica Kavass put together. Book "The Last Good War: faces and voices of World War II," a beautifully done coffee table type book that those who serve our nation in war pays homage to.

Book men and women who have served much longer filled with old pictures of the spectacular, but often when they were little pictures of the holding. Many images are black and white, but also included color photos. These men and women who are true heroes, that very few are ever heard of. They are heroes because they responded when their country called. They did what had to be sacrificed. They rest of us lead lives as productive members of their communities and to be returned home.

Sanders all American veterans and soldiers book devoted specifically to those who do not make it home. And there really is nothing good about war, just as Hampton Sides says in the introduction, there are service men and women who "had a lot of good, and this book helps We selfless Remember, determined, humble, and heroic legends of that time. At the beginning of the book there Dwight D. Eisenhower, General, is a quote by the U.S. military. This was when the Allied forces during World War II was the supreme commander before he became President of the United States. He said, "what the world know, and should never be forgotten." I think sometimes we forget and we should not. Looking through the book, seeing old faces, but I can not help think what they went through during their time of service can. And I can not help what they did can feel a sense of gratitude and thankfulness. Reading their stories, how I cry and the difficulties that some people today are nowhere near what about those men and women faced ashamed to lament.

This is an important book, and I hope many will take the time to read it, more than that history to realize that our older generation have not studied, but lived, and these men and women learn to take advantage of, so we do not forget. Because one day, as the author says, they will tell their stories to be here.
